Karen,

My point was that at the pleasure level of other
sports (I.E. not major competitors, professionals)
their death/injury rate is probably about the same as
endurance horses. I'm sure some of the vets could jump
in here and tell you better, but in my experiences
with hunters, CT, and dressage there were little
injuries, but relatively few deaths. In saddle seat I
found more deaths (I also tried that for 6 months),
especially broken bones in pastures and RPs. I always
assumed it was from the shoes they wore. In my short
stint as Rodeo queen (I tried it all LOL) there were
considerably more lower leg injuries than in Hunters
and Dressage, and more shoulder injuries among barrell
horses.
