>I would like to add one more: a report from the treatment vet.
Last dead horse I had to deal with as a ride vet, I had to write a
detailed report to AERC, which included reporting the on-site treatment details
(I was head vet, but the other vet at the ride did the treatment) and calling
the equine hospital where the horse was referred for additional details, both
about treatment and about autopsy. (This was a horse in her late teens
with a latent tumor that had ruptureed/twisted and caused a colic.) I
think at this point, the issue is not what information we are sending in from
out in the field (we already have forms, and I know that at least several of us
are very conscientious about filling those forms out and sending them back), but
rather what is being learned from it. The answer isn't more forms--it is
better compilation and utilization.
