Re: [RC] ride across every state...who's with me? - Lynn Kinskyhi all, one of my dreams for the future (besides tevis in 2006) is to ride the whole Appalachian trail from Maine to Georgia, ride the north south trail straight through the whole state of Rhode Island (OK its only 75 miles) and to eventually, ride across every state. do any of you in the east have any stories about the Appalachian trail, or a web site that could help fuel my desires? any body wanna go with me?:-) Unfortunately the web sites all give the bad news that the Appalachian Trail, by federal and state law, is closed to horses: http://www.berkshireweb.com/sports/parks/app.html and http://www.muleriders.com/misconceptions.shtml and http://webpages.charter.net/sws4024/s2day4.html. It's a lovely trail and I hiked a lot of the New Hampshire section when I was in grad school (and a whole bunch of the other White Mountain trails). -- Lynn Kinsky Santa Ynez, CA http://www.silcom.com/~lkinsky
