Re: [RC] [RC] Preventing treatment (fwd) - Susan Garlinghouse

send it in for analysis to verify whether electrolyte values are on

within normal levels in treated horses."

I have to ask, who would pay for this?
Thanks,

My understanding is that AERC has an untapped research fund. Well-presented
research grants are another source, as is corporate funding (there is a fair
amount of corporate money available that doesn't necessarily directly
benefit the company); or (horrors), raise member fees are some such by a
buck. Yeah, I know, there are hordes of endurance riders eating peanut
butter to scrape together the money for just one entry fee this year, but
it's still cheaper than any horse show fees on earth.

For that matter, all it takes to run a packed cell and total proteins is a
portable centrifuge and a refractometer. Less than $200 total and one
person to run samples at a ride. Pretty reasonable.
