Re: [RC] They all only go on "with qualifications" - Jim HollandRides 2 Far wrote: I've had a vet tell me before, "He needs to eat some this loop" and he knew that I would be hitting every clump of grass along the way. I know without a doubt that the vets know other riders who would totally ignore that advice and do what they had planned to do anyway. You vets who have been around awhile know exactly who you don't trust...for good reason. One of the interesting things in the SE (and it may be true in other regions) is that if you are a "regular", the vets get to know you. It becomes a "joint effort" between you and the vets you know and trust. Every vet check is a "consultation". After awhile they learn your "tendencies" and begin to trust you. One year at Million Pines, some of the Vets didn't show up. Ken Marcella was the only vet there...I was in line and Ken says "He OK?" "Yeah, he's fine.." He turns to the scribe and says, give him an A- on all". NEXT! Here's some typical exchanges.... <grin> "Anything I should watch?" "Hmmm...he eatin' good?" "Yeah" "He looks OK...hold whatcha got, but don't push him any harder, 'kay?" "Yep...gotcha...thanks. 'preciate it!" OR "Dang, K.., he feels funny". Sumpin's going on...Whaddaya think? Gimme a clue here." "I don't see nuttin'....what's the deal?" "I dunno...just ain't normal." "Hmmm...OK...just bac 'm off a little and watch 'm...you know 'm better'n me...make sure he's drinkin', peein', and poopin'...if he ain't you come see me, ya' hear? Don't u take no chances with 'm boy..." "I ain't...thanks. "preciate it.".
