Re: [RC] [RC] Pulse-Punishing - Jim HollandHeh, Heh...I remember those...gave a new meaning to the term "graphic detail". Brings back memories of my VERY short (8 jumps) skydiving career way back when. I was considering buying a 'chute until my wife at the time reminded me that my insurance didn't cover that and put her foot down... :) That was right after our pilot blew an oil cap off, then made us jump immediately...scattered us all over the cornfields...even downtown. <grin> I landed in a horse/mule pasture...the mules were trying to eat my 'chute! Tools are available to the average AERC member to analyze data that rival those of the best Veterinarian. Just as we use the experience of other riders to train, feed, etc., we could use information on deaths to recognize the mistakes (and we ALL make them) of others and learn from them." This reminds me that years ago I had a friend who was a skydiver. In their magazine, they would have articles about the accidents that happened in that sport. These were usually fatal accidents, and the articles would be about the why they happened, the mistakes made and other pertinent information. I thought it was pretty creepy but can see it may have served a good purpose.
