Re: [RC] Gaited horses 'artificial' gaits - A. Perez"but I would question the accuracy of an author who lists all
the soft and lateral gaits as "artificial"
What a hoot! My unregistered TWH/Racking gelding was trained by
a non-gaited horse trainer (fprmer arab trainer) as a pleasure
horses, never had any special trimming, shoeing, devises or
training. At liberty he trots, paces, running-walks, caters,
cross-canters (does that under saddle too, unfortunately), and
some undefineable variations on all of the above... and changes
effortlessly from one to the other minute-by-minute sometimes!
Sometimes I think he is trying to be a one-horse illustration
of all gaits known to man and equine! All this is entirely un-
taught, on his own. Hardly 'artificial'!
Amanda ("NOW what are you doing, Idiot Boy?")
Cy ("Special, yes, Artificial, NEVER!")
