My first endurance horse, Froggie (3/4 Arab 1/4 Welsh) did that and could do it all day long. We used to do the Death Valley trail rides (4 1/2 days) and we couldn't pass the trail boss. So I would let Froggie walk to the front of the line, turn him around and walk him to the very back, then let him walk to the front as many times as it took to get us to the end of the day's ride. We'd cover twice as many miles over the same trail as the rest of the group! My stallion Ben Nasrif would do the walk too, but I had to encourage him whereas Froggie always did it on his own. I'm hoping his son, SE Kokopelli Kid will do it as well. As everyone has mentioned who's experienced the power walk, once you've learned to loosen up your waist and let your butt waddle with the gait, it's very fast, very smooth. _________________________________________________ Lif Strand * Quemado NM USA * www.fasterhorses.com ** You speak, I listen, We talk ** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
