This thread interests me not because of a poor eater so much as the fact that our 29 year old mare now has less than 50% of her grinding surface left. No amount of dentistry will help her, I am afraid :), but some really judicious feeding has put weight back on her. We are not unaware that she is just plain old, but as long as she has a quality of life, this former campaigner deserves whatever we can provide that she can eat. She doesn't care much for mushy feeds, including bran and soaked beet pulp; she doesn't like corn very much, and picks through oats, but WILL eat a good senior sweet feed high in beet pulp. She also will et a decent amount of Dynamite HES pellets. I am still working on the ideal combo for her - after her years of companionship, competition on trail and rail, she has MORE than earned the right to have....whatever she wants!:) Any other recommendations, Susan, are appreciated. I plan to also call Jim Zamzow to get his advice on a tailor-made feed regime for my old girl.
