[RC] Ratting people out - David LeBlancSomeone with an e-mail address of Ibiteraaarr@xxxxxxx said: One of my very best friend's 5 year old nephew has an older pony who has not had a vet check, vaccinations, parasite preventative or a Coggins test done in YEARS. The boy got the pony as an infant. I can't tell you how many times I've mentioned to them that they need to call a vet, not just for the mare's health but for all horses in the surrounding area and they still have not. They are not "horse people" they just literally have a pony in a corral smaller then half the size of my backyard. Should I rat them out? -------------------------------------- This is something I've been wondering about for a while. There have been some people in our area who don't take good care of their horses - no farrier, either no worming or not often enough. In one particularly nasty case, a young horse had a halter grown into its face and had sores. One day, he and his two herd-mates escaped and ended up at our place. We cut the halter off, and read the owner the riot act. Anyway, my question is just how bad does it need to get before the animal welfare people will really do something? I know if there are horses dying, then they'll do something, but I don't want to call them just to have them do nothing. If you're going to upset the applecart with the neighbors, I'd be more willing to do it if it meant the horses were rescued. What I don't want to see is PO'd neighbors AND the horses still there. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
