For those of you who are looking for a rules based solution....this is
it.

This, of course, will not stop horses from dying, it will just stop them
from dying in endurance rides.

May I just say that on my second ride, Kat was the drag rider we attached
ourselves to all day. I learned more about how to keep my horse out of
trouble than I had in all the books I read.
And she told me that to really learn how to take care of my mare and for her
to learn to better take care of herself, that I should do some of the Duck's
multidays.. Slowly. I like the idea of being told, it's a long trail, so you
better be able to get your horse back in one piece. I'll be doing my first
multiday in March and am looking forward to the challenge of keeping my mare
fit, sound and happy for two days of 50's.

Our horses are our partners and they deserve a rider that places them above
all else of their own volition, not a bunch of rules which wouldn't work
anyway. Anything that happens to our horses is first and solely our
responsibility, not the vets, and not the AERC, though I believe they do
their best to help us along the path, so to speak.
Tiffany
