Hopefully, the BoD will asssess ALL the proposals we all so vehemently support or don't support depending on our perspective, seperate the practical from the impractical, the good from the bad, and come up with a plan that, while it may not please everyone, is as reasonable as possible and has the best chance of providing greater protection for our horses. Instead of any more replys to the Trio, I'll summarize what I see as the essence of the situation: 1. There have been about ten equine fatalities at endurance rides in North America each of the last two years, which is ten per year too many. 2. Equine fatalities are bad. They are bad for the horses, bad for the people involved, bad for the AERC and bad for the sport. 3. Accordingly, the AERC needs to continue to improve its rules, policies and procedures in an effort to improve equine safety at rides and reduce equine fatalities at rides (and non-fatal equine injuries as well). I believe that on the above, Truman, Howard, Jim and I (and just about everyone else in the sport) agree. Our differences are in how we achieve this. I believe I've said more than enough on the issue, and we're repeating ourselves, and it's getting nasty, which is doing no good at all.
