[RC] Where to live? - Jonni JewellMy husband is looking at a job in Aliso Viejo (southern California). <snip> Any good riding areas (horse properties with trail access)? We'd like 5 - 10 acres and can be a little bit of a ways out if necessary.<<< I was not familiar with where Aliso Viejo was, so did a quick look up on Mapquest. I know we have a few folks from Orange county and south on this list, that hopefully knows some secret areas that are somewhat affordable, but the quick glance I did not Realtor.com will have you at $1 million on some homes that are zoned for horses, and not "too" far from Aliso Viejo (but really no acreage). San Juan Capistrano is a very horse minded area, but again, very pricey. Not sure what "a bit of a ways out" means to you, but if you get to the somewhat more affordable areas, your commute would be unbearable in my mind. There are some wonderful areas to ride all over southern California, with some of the best conditioning trails with hills/mountains. Weather lets you usually ride year round, but that area of Orange County is fairly high end. Good luck....we escaped from So. Calif in 2000.
