[RC] Newbies and Ridecamp - William Rice

To all you Newbies and Wannabe's reading Ridecamp from a complete Newbie.
First and foremost, please do not think Endurance is exactly like Ridecamp, the
riders, vets, managers, volunteers and onlookers at every ride I have been to,
including endurance, LD, Ctr etc are the nicest most caring individuals you will
find.

I do not have years of riding, hell I only started a year or so ago, am I
worried about my horses, yes, do I ride them and compete, yes, will I continue
yes. Life is too darn short to wait and definitely too short to say maybe I'll
try
it later. Go to a ride or two, volunteer, pick out riders you find credible,
trust me
people are people and you can pick out those you will want to ride with. Ask
questions,
train your horse and go ride a ride...do not hesitate, get on with it.

Enjoy the ride, take your time, let your horse teach you things you will never
learn
in a ring and have the time of your life. Further you will meet some of the
people
here on Ridecamp and you will find they are really very nice people and have a
world
of knowledge they will share. This banter back and forth is just that...talk,
out on the
trails talk is talk, but riding is bliss!

So go hug your horse(s), tell them that life is an adventure (they already
know) and tell
them you (the collective you) are going on a big ride, one full of scary
monsters in the woods,
blue tarps, electrolytes, campgrounds, other horses, vet's, other riders, dogs,
4 wheelers,
and whatever else the Universe decides to throw at you that day :-) Your horse
will snicker
in your ear and say it's okay, it's what I was put here for and the reason we
train so hard, I love
my life, please love and enjoy yours.

Bill In Maine, musing on a cold day and counting the hours til he can go home
and hug his horses
remember at the end of it all you should be able to say no regrets over the
things you did not
do, and you won't if you go out and do them:-)
Play nice and have a wonderful weekend.
Newbie yep as a rider and horse owner, but rode hard and put away wet in the
ways of life!
