Re: [RC] [RC] Horses getting hungup - terry banisterSo, assuming horses may instinctively "hide" when loose, breakaway reins and locator devices would be helpful, but also, our SEARCH TECHNIQUES might be changed/refined by:1. working in tighter circles outward from the point of separation (posts indicate that many times, horses haven't traveled far, or they returned to the general area and were missed by a few yards) 2. going immediately to any known hazardous places within an x-mile range such as bogs, cliffs or thick brush "hangup" horse-killer areas . (assuming that if the horse is not hung up, it would be more likely able to survive and wander and be found). 3. using night-vision goggles (?) 4. search by using loud sounds like cap guns or something, in order to spook the horse into making a noise, even if it is hung up on something (?) 5. search silently so as not to scare the horse into hiding (?) 6. using dogs that have been given the horse's scent (?) 7. . . . someone's experienced input please From: "Paddi" <seamstob@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <DarkHorseGoddess@xxxxxxx> CC: "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [RC] Horses getting hungup Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2003 21:15:46 -0700 _________________________________________________________________ Get holiday tips for festive fun. http://special.msn.com/network/happyholidays.armx =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
