well, if changes in grass, weather etc are "trauma" them yes,
I guess that is true.  What I meant to say is that I would
not assume, upon seeing such rings, that there is a major 
problem, especially if evaluating a horse for purchase.
I have made a habit of looking at horses hooves since
I noticed all the horses with ringed hooves where I baord,
and it seems to be extremely common.  Again, I suspect
changes in grass, climate etc can account for many such
cases.

Nope, and not all horses had been at the farm for long.
My suspicion is that these rings do not always indicate a 
present or past problems.
