Re: [RC] 'fever rings' in hooves - Jackie WinklemanMy horse gets them after endurance rides. On one occasion she even abcessed and I didn't even notice her being lame. I was told by both the farrier and vets that some horses are more tolerant to pain and don't appear to be lame. Mostly she just gets the rings around her hooves. They both said that the rings are just stress. Can be just from the ride, change of feed, etc. I am trying to keep everything exactly the same and see if I can get her to quit getting them. --- "A. I contacted his prior owner who had owned him for 7 years, and she said he had never been sick that she knew of. I then checked the hooves of the other horses where he is field-boarded, and saw similar ridges on most of them. Could it be that field-boarded horses have a more variable diet due to seasonal changes in pasturage and temperature (as well as fluctuations due to drought/rain variability year to year), which result in changes in the rate of hoof growth? ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
