I dunno. I'd rather a big studio make nice horse
movies that were a little honest about how fictional they are. To claim
that it is the truth not only makes certain points about how wonderful this
fictional American rider and his mustang are....but maybe even more points
about the opponents in this imaginary race that uninformed watchers might
believe. Not cool.

I checked out the link, especially the Hopkins on Horses link. Boy the real guy
sounds like a real jerk! Sometimes I almost wish people didn't do the
research, it's nicer to believe in the fairytale!
Still, a good horse movie is a good
horse movie and I will most likely go see it. I was wondering if the
scene in Seabiscuit where Tobe Maguire (I forgot how to spell his name) was
telling a tale about how the Sultan had chosen him to ride his stallion, etc
was a bit of a inside joke about the Hopkins movie.
There is an article in the Endurance News about the Validity of the
story. I am sorry but I forgot what month I believe It was in the spring
of 2003. I have only been getting it since 2003 so it has to be this year.
I
also saw the preview when I was at the theatre. I don't think
they changed the way they are marketing it. They said over and over
again... Based on the true story!
