I used to ride in one, so am familiar with the saddle, but not familiar with the seat width and comfort for the rider. How would one know what width of a saddle seat is too wide to be comfortable for the rider. I had a wide tree Stonewall saddle and it was uncomfortable for me (knee and hip pain on long rides, only showed up after 25 miles or so). I personally need a narrow twist saddle, and with the Stonewall, the twist is dependent on the tree. Next time I have a regular-tree-size horse, I'll definitely get him a Stonewall. I loved the saddle otherwise, much enjoyed the used (narrow tree) one I tried before buying a wide-tree one for my horse. -- Glenda R. Snodgrass Before you begin, consider ...
