RE: [RC] RC: Too old/too green? - DESERTRYDR1I started riding again at 40. Rode a little as a kid, then some in my 20's. Find someone to take lessons from for several months minimum before you even THINK about buying a horse. You will appreciate having some experience on horseback before you find that love of your life. Best instructor would be someone who is experienced with adult beginners, and has really calm, well-broke lesson horse(s). Lots of people start riding even in their 40's or older, because they couldn't afford or didn't have time before that. You're never too old to learn a new skill. I think Trilby Pedersen was about 45 when she started riding endurance (don't know about her riding experience before that) and she has over 50,000 miles in competitions now. She's in her late 60's. Julie Suhr is over 75 and still going. Lots of people don't start endurance either until they're in their 40's or later due to the aforementioned time/money issues. Go for it! jeri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
