RE: [RC] another proposal - Bob MorrisJim: This is why such proposals need full disclosure as to the details. When such are left out, while the proposal may sound almost perfect, the field application trips very badly. This DOES need clarification. I understood "placing" to mean Top Ten and "completion" in this case to mean the same thing as finishing normally, just not in the Top Ten. There is a HUGE difference. Under your interpretation, ALL riders would have to recover within 15 minutes or you get nothing but the "pleasure" of a trail ride. IMHO, that's the same as reducing the time for recovery from 30 minutes to 15 minutes....as Lisa suggested. If that IS the case, why bother with all this? Just drop the recovery to 15 minutes at all checks and the finish and forget about a "completion only". I think this interpretation is too drastic a change all at once and would impact too many riders who are NOT racing. Bobbie, could you please clarify EXACTLY the meaning here? As to Weight Divisions, it is my understanding "word of mouth" and from some private emails, that Matthew did not think it was appropriate to include weight divisions, at least initially, but it was not in the written proposal. This is something the Vet Committee/Horse Welfare Committee and the BOD could discuss. Personally, I would prefer to omit Weight Divisions initially just to keep it simple....but I would accept either choice. It states ....? 1)Those who are permitted to continue for placing, and ? 2) Those who are permitted to continue for completion. At every vet check, in order to continue to compete for a placing, your horse must recover to pulse parameters within 15 minutes. If your horse recovers after 15 minutes but before 30 minutes you may continue for completion only. If it takes longer than 30 minutes for your horse to recover, your horse will be eliminated from the competition entirely. At the finish, your horse must recover within 15 minutes in order to get a placing. Between 15 and 30 minutes, your horse is eligible for completion only and longer than 30 minutes and your horse will be eliminated from the competition If you exceed the 15 minutes then you get completion only. COMPLETION ONLY!! No points, mileage only. This excludes you from any points awards for that ride. No weight division points. COMPLETION ONLY!!! You state <<<Matthew's proposal does not apply to weight divisions>>> Please indicate where this is stated.
