I posted this to
our PNER List, but Maryben suggested I send it on to ridecamp, so here it
is...enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving season to all...
What the DPD
Family learned this season:
Just because
someone tells you that your horse isn't "fit" for endurance...doesn't mean it
isn't, it just means your horse isn't fit to be "their" endurance horse! Go
for it, you never know what you'll accomplish with that "saddle horse" or
"trail horse" of YOURS!
Having Great Mentors goes a long ways!
Terry was crabbed at Klickitat by having Shari MacFarlane "dictating" the pace
on his first 75 mile completion, but I tell you what, by the end of that day,
if Danny didn't have Shari already, Terry might have been putting in his bid
...he loves her and how she rides her horses...SMART! He learned a
bunch!
When you're told you can't possibly acheive something
because it's too far "above" you, try anyhow, you never know...right Tiffany
and Kenny?
Always...ALWAYS keep a positive attitude and
remember that sportsmanship is what this sport is about when it's all said and
done. We don't really ride for that coffee cup (although I now own a beautiful
blue and green matching set!), or that t-shirt, or the hoof pick...we ride
because we're nuts about our ponies and we love riding with others who feel
the same way about their ponies.
Keep the Faith, and be
thankful...it's getting to be that time of year, and I'm thankful for many
many things...My Kids, My Bear, the Ponies I "get" to ride (yea...I'm talkin'
to you Connor and Z!), MY MOM & my Dad and all my great Friends who accept
me the way I am, in spite of myself!
