Re: [RC] One of Americas dirty little secrets - goearth
Bob, First off i would propose that they be treated with
dignity and treated humanely. There is a difference between rendering
and slaughter. With slaughter they have to be transported alive
and then killed. With rendering they are already dead from some reason
and used for dog food or jell-o or car tires or all the other things they use
horse bone, cartilage etc. for. I have only eaten horse once while in
Europe and was unaware of the flesh i was eating and found it somewhat
unsettling. But the cultures are different and there they eat
them. What i find hard to fathom is that the majority of the flesh comes
from a place that does not condone eating it. Second, i would find a
more humane way to kill them than a 4" spike into the head and sliting their
throat to bleed before they lose consciousness. Third, i would address
the Organizations that support or are neutral to re-evaluate the whole
process. Fourth, i would want to separate the good from the bad in some
way to allow them a chance. But, i think i did not really answer your
question as what to do with the poundage. It is inevitable that some
should and will be eaten, thats life and death in a real world and i can't or
won't change that. But here's what i would do with the Wild Horses, and
after visiting this website its not so cruel. I would separate them in
some way over time in various herds into, culls and send them to slaughter and
use those funds to sterilize the non-breeding stock and allow only the better
horses to procreate. This is a very touchy subject and i would hope that
rational thought and sensibility would outweigh the emotions that can
evolve. tom sites
That adds up to 4,390,000 horses total, that went to some beneficial
use. Now, explain to me exactly what YOU would have done with these
4,390,000 horses otherwise. You might consider that amounts to 3,951,000,000
pounds of horse flesh to dispose of.

What is found on this site will turn any rose colored glasses to bright
crimson. The fact that Americans allow this to happen for foreign
consumption while at the same time refusing to eat, acknowlege and ignore
the inhumaneness of the kill sickens me. tom sites
