Re: [RC] re: RP pads - rrohwer RohwerAt the beginning of the season this year I was thinking I should have more padding under my RP saddle other than the booties that it has. But in actuality I have had no problems with the pads that come with the RP. I have had very few problems with my mare's back. She did come up with a sore back this summer on the first day of a two day 100, but I am thinking it was more the trail than the saddle. It was the Northwest Labor day ride and if any of you did that ride and remember all the huge kelly hump whoopied doos that was on the second loop you will understand what I am talking about. I think those are what caused the sore back, not the saddle. I started riding for real about 15 years ago. I was a western saddle girl with my hand firmly clutching the horn. I did move into a couple endurance/western style saddles from there, but feel like the RP was my first more english type saddle. I love it. I feel very secure in it. I started a 3yo last summer with my western saddle, but this summer rode him with the RP as I felt more secure in it than the Western one. Anyway, I guess the point of all this is that I have only used the pads that come with the RP and that works well for me. Just like most of these discussions, it comes down to what works or doesn't work for you and your horse.
