I've been using the Australian wool pads under my R/P and they work 
great.  I did a bit of altering on a sqare one I'd bought and they 
have a core of perhap 1/4 inch wool felt  which probably gives them 
the needed stiffness.  I thought they were advertising on endurance 
net but did not see them just now.  They were looking for U.S 
vendors at one time.   I caint say they'll make ya go fast or far 
<g>,but I love the way they are holding up, and Grey and Shade love 
the comfy fleece on their backs.  They do have endurance and english 
shaped pads - I'd just bought a couple of square ones as well, for 
my western saddle family, but I reclaimed one that was not getting 
used when I started riding Shade more.
