I'm more likely to take a free horse (yes, I understand that there really
is no such thing) than I am to purchase a Susan Romera painting (they're
beautiful but I doubt I can afford it) or another horse trailer (give me
one for free and I'll be first in line). These are all sponsors for
AERC. Why are you attacking BLM because of this? What's
next?
**Okay Howard, and RIGHT HERE is the problem! The
painting and the trailer are not going to suffer pain if you decide to park
them for years....the HORSE requires both effort and money, not just to keep
it healthy and fed, but to also improve it to something useful. People
have problems and crises in their lives, and far too many animals suffer at a
result! The free or bargain basement horse is going to appeal to the
impulse buyer, and the one who cannot really afford a horse!!
In my opinion, the BLM shoud drastically raise the price
of adoptions. It will help defray the totally unreasonable amount of $
already put into each horse at taxpayers expense, and probably guarantee that
the best conformed individuals will be selected by serious buyers who can
afford a decent prospect.
