[RC] [Guest] Mustang adoptions - Ridecamp ModeratorKaren Nelson knelson@xxxxxxxxxx How about a new direction in this 2 year partnership with the BLM? The budget is in better shape than a long time. The cost-I believe- of adopting a BLM mustang to the new owner is about $125. If the BLM is going to do the check out of the place where the mustang is going, I think that is what most of the $125 is going. I might be wrong. How about AERC "sponsors" 2 BLM mustang placements a year? The BLM has to give AERC kudos and publicity for this and more cooperation on the trail use issues. We have a trail use issue with Headwaters in N Cal right now. I know it isn't BLM, but I refuse to believe that there isn't some inter contact between these agencies. I also acknowledge Calif Fish and Game can be devils to deal with. That would involve an outlay of $250. Any AERC members could attend the auction, having the details published in advance on Endurance Net. Beyond and above that, let BLM have a small booth at the convention, and perhaps give a 3-5 minute speech at the general meeting. That keeps possible unhealthy, not inocculated horses out of a ride camp where I for one would feel nervous.
