Re: [RC] Girths - DESERTRYDR1I would recommend neoprene. When the horse starts to sweat, the effect is to act as a lubricant under the neoprene. I use a waffle-weave Wintec girth, with elastic in the girth itself. Have never had a girth gall. I have, however, seen a fleece girth that was dirty gall a sensitive skinned horse so bad that after one ride she had gashes about 8" long on both sides, with the skin just hanging. If you keep the fleece very clean, this should not be a problem, but if it gets dirty, it can cut like a razor. I also don't like the girths, neoprene or waffle weave, that have a bound edge on the sides, it just doesn't seem like it would be comfortable. jeri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
