RE: [RC] [RC] [Guest] American-Flex saddles - Trail PalHi Chip - I had a "custom" ortho-flex made for my arab. He was rather long in the loin (had to do lots of work to strenghten that back!) and still had loin-rubbing problems with that saddle. I tried a pad between my horse's back and the booties - still a rubbing problem. Apparently the booties grabbed the pad and "scrubbed" the loins. So I stitched some satin (or a really smooth fabric) on the last third of the bootie, allowing it to move over the surface of the pad. It seemed to help. Rosalie Marley ==============original message================== [RC] [Guest] American-Flex saddles - Ridecamp Moderator Chipnml@xxxxxxx I bought an American-Flex saddle in April,.... But at the final vet check he was so sore over his loins I thought he was going to drop. Later, I spoke with Roberta Harms who's used Ortho-Flex for years. She told me this was a problem with small, short-backed horses like mine, that it was a chaffing problem, and I should try a pad under the booties. I tried her suggestion a week later on a light conditioning ride and he was fine, but then again he was fine until I did 50 miles. My problem is he seemed fine when I conditioned, and even halfway through the ride, so I would have to risk him getting that sore..... ===== Rosalie Marley Ride the Tiger! http://TigerHorseFarms.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
