[RC] I'm an endurance rider and proud of it! - Cindy CollinsRe: [RC] I'm a distance rider - Barbara McCrary ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This has to be the most concise and gracious explanation of this issue in the many days of discussion on ridecamp. EVERYONE should take heed of this message. Barbara McCrary I certainly agree, Barbara! Thanks to Kristi. I know that arguing about semantics must seem petty and small-minded to many, but just as LD riders are proud of their accomplishments, so are endurance riders. Not just any person or any horse can go 100 miles in 24 hours. I would not say I was a marathoner, if I'd only run a 10K. So, when I hear local folks saying, "Oh, you must know 'Sally Smith', she's an endurance rider", and I know that Sally tried two 25 milers five years ago and finished one of them and her horse looked like dog food...it bothers me. I know that's my problem and I should rise above such things, but guess I'm human, too! (By the way, I usually just smile and say that yes I do know 'Sally' and try to change the subject.)
