[RC] What's in a Name? - k s swigartFor those of you who think the AERC should redefine endurance ride to be something other than "50 or more miles in one day"... How would you like to redefine it? "25 or more miles in one day" is equally as arbitrary as "50 or more miles in one day." I guarantee you, if you change the definition to "25 or more miles in one day" you will be having this same exact discussion again about "Introductory" rides of 10 miles that lots more people will want to do to get a feel for the sport. For those of you who say, "Why do we have to define it at all?" If you don't define words, they have no meaning and therefore become useless. kat Orange County, Calif. P.S. Personally, I don't care. If people want to call themselves endurance riders because they managed to get on their horse from the ground (you'd be surpirsed the struggle that is for some people:)), they are quite welcome to; they are just using the word differently than I am.... ...but then, if we don't use the same word to mean the same thing, we can't communicate. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
