That is one of the many reasons that I came to this sport after doing many other equine pursuits. If you take the speed out of the equation it still would not solve all the horse deaths. I'd be willing to bet that a very slow 50 in the hot sun is just as hard or harder on a horse then a middling time. Three hours less working in the sun seems preferable to me, if that is a reasonable and safe speed to travel for that trail. Tiffany
