[RC] [Guest] Need Vet Help - Ridecamp ModeratorKaren Nelson knelson@xxxxxxxxxxI seem to remember my old vet in So Calif (now deceased-old age) who told me that all hardwoods are trees horses should NOT be allowed to pasture near or tie to. In particular the walnut is toxic in the bark. You know your horse best. If she isn't acting right, then get the vet out there right away, or haul her to the clinic for a workup, which would save time if something is wrong and she needs treatment. I don't know if there is any antidote for hardwood/walnut bark toxcicity (sp). When in doubt, get proactive. Better to spend a little now and alot less than later and possibly lose the horse. Keep us posted as to what you find out for everyone else, and Good Luck.
