Re: [RC] [RC] automatic sanctions - Nik Isahak Abdullah

Joe,
I cannot agree with you more.As the guy who "was responsible"for a horse death at the highest possible level i.e WEG Ifelt devastated, paranoid and crucified by friends and foes, even fellow teammates, even with or without sanction. That 8 month wait for the final FEI findings felt like 8 years. Thus when it came out as "multifactorial" ,whatever it may mean,it sound like music from heaven!

Well, I missed it. But perhaps nobody responded because, it is so
outrageous, that no one took it seriously. It stands the American
tradition of "innocent until proven guilty" on its head: it presumes
anyone who has a horse die from metabolic causes at a ride guilty,
unless they can prove themselves innocent by an expensive, lengthy and
arduous process. They are suspended while the process is under way.
And it leaves them stigmatized even if their automatic suspension gets
rescinded. For something that, as Truman has himself noted, can
happen to any one of us at any time.

The process would also inevitably be politicized. While I was on the
Board I saw, first-hand and close-up, how "who the accused were"
affected the resolution of protests against riders for alleged abuses.
