[RC] OT: And now for something completely different.... - Maryanne Stroud GabbaniThis week I am in the process of buying a piece of land near the pyramids of Dahshur outside of Cairo on which I plan to build a very small house and install my dogs, parrots and horses. The land is just over an acre, which will not provide grazing but will allow the horses to hang out in paddocks under the palm trees, which is infinitely preferable to living in boxes. This whole enterprise is a novel experience to me, having only once before been involved in the purchase of the family house in Canada, and compared to buying land and building on it in North America or Europe, I daresay that many others will find it a rather novel experience as well.I'm taking photos of the different aspects of the process and posting them on my website with explanations so that anyone who is interested can sort of play along vicariously....and I'm willing to bet that there will be many times when I'm wishing I was in the vicarious crowd. Winter is setting in for a lot of you Ridecampers, so I thought I'd invite you to share my adventure. The website is www.alsorat.com and for some bizarre reason when the home page opens there is no link to the new Dahshur pages. If you go to one of the other links, you will then find the link for moving to Dahshur....go figure. Hopefully, soon I will get the glitch sorted out, but in the meantime you have the explanation. Al Sorat means "the way" or "the path" in Arabic, BTW.
