[RC] manes/genetics - heidi sowards

I have two geldings, one (Ash) is by a sire named Alkalia,
(pure polish) I treat both geldings the same in the mane
dpt. (Cowboy Magic, finger comb, brush rarely, trim the
ends when they get tangly) and Donte still has a short
mane/forelock, however, Ash is like his dad and his mane is
almost 3 feet long.  I think it's mostly genetics!! I
posted sometime back on the polish yahoo group and some
nice knowledgeable person e-mailed me back about certain
lines/families known for their long manes, but I must have
deleted it.
