[RC] AERC NC 100: to Alyx and all who love our sport - Lydia Cassilly

Thank you for making it possible for us to ride again, to race with the critters we love so much. Thank you John and Steph, and Ridecamp friends who bring us the news as best they can. Thank you for feeding this beast/my memory, my imagination. Picturing the trail. Every stride. Every rock and root and rut. The breath and heartbeat of the one who carries us. Hitting that first wall and wondering why we think this is fun--then feeling the horse catch second wind and wondering if this is what courage truly is. Dirt and sweat and worry worry worry that anything should harm our horse. Right shoes? Right tack? Right feed? Right training? Right? Right? Lumpy camp beds and leaky trailers and tents and cold Gu and thank God for donuts and coffee. And rest stops. And safe return to the final vet in. And always the horse. First. Thank You.
