It is called the "top shim" pad, and has extra thick, but beveled wedges of foam glued onto the main body of foam, the whole thing inside the pad. It is also cut back slightly. And, the skitos, are also shaped to the horses back. This worked fine on my beast with huge withers and shoulder. I do like it very much but would like to find a better pad for my horse. She is a large, wide, high withered arab.I am using a thick pad on her now with no problems. I would like something that would give her back more protection and be more comfortable for me. After a few miles I feel like I am sinking in the saddle as it settles more behind her withers. This is also using a breast collar. Anyone solved this with a Toklat or other pad with inserts? Any input would be appreciated.
