[RC] Mini crash? - k s swigartMichelle Fink said: On the way over, she did another big stretch - one of those dog stretches that is deep in front, with her rump up in the air. That was also weird - she will do that before a ride, but I have never seen her do it mid-ride. She still wanted to roll. ... My question is, has anyone had a horse do this sort of thing? Yes, I have a horse that used to do this. If you ask me (but I, obviously can't be sure), it is about the only clinical sign she ever showed of having gastric ulcers (found during Barney's study with an endoscope). Certainly, since I treated the ulcers with Gastrogard, the behaviour has gone away. I have a fairly good idea of when the behaviour began (at least, I know when I started noticing it), so I suspect (but I, obviously can't be sure), that that is when the ulcers developed too (and it coincided with a less than stellar performance at an endurance ride). If it were me, I might seriously consider having my horse scoped to see if she has gastric ulcers, or, if nothing else, be on the look out for other clinical signs of ulcers to determine whether I need to do a scope. kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
