Re: [RC] re: Endpoint of an endurance ride - Sisu West Ranch"6.2.1.1 All Equines must stand a mandatory post ride evaluation within one hour of finishing. Riders may present their equines for the final examination at a time of their chooing during the one-hour period. An equine that does not meet the established criteria within one hour of crossing the finish line shall be disqualified. Once a competing equine has passed the post ride examination, it may not be removed from completion for veterinary reasons" This rule is interesting. The rider gets to chose the time. It could be argued that once the rider picks the time the whole exam must be taken at that time. It could also be argued that the rider can choose to do the various parts at various times. Note that the RM can make a strict interpretation, if he/she chooses under our rules. I really do not care which interpretation is used. Both protect the horse. Both are fair, if the riders know the rule. I do think that postponing the final fitness to continue decision for one hour, allows one more exam and probably does catch some metabolic problems.
