Re: [RC] re: Endpoint of an endurance ride - C. EylerI've only been to rides in the mid-Atlantic area (Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) over the past four years, mostly scribing for the vets, but I've never seen a horse trot out for the vet before making pulse criteria. No matter if the weather is cold or hot, wet or dry, it would be unthinkable around here. Cindy ----- Original Message ----- I have seen this "ride in and holler at the vet for a trot out" scenario...what are the rules in regard to this? Is there a rule? Can a ride manager make a "no trot outs until you present to the vet for pulse" policy? I know it is done to avoid the possibility that your horse may cramp up or have something crop up that might affect his completion. I could maybe see trotting out immediately on a cold, wet day when that would be an issue but have seen it in the heat and humidity of summer. I could have possibly used it myself to avoid a pull at the end of a ride but I never present to the vet before I present for pulse...what are some thoughts, opinions, ideas about this? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
