RE: [RC] regional awards question - Bob MorrisBefore a decision is made on such a question there should be some other research done regarding ride locations vs. region boundaries. Region boundaries are a quixotic decision often made with out thought other than ease of designation. At times the physical/topographical constraints are not considered. That leaves a person in one region with the closest and most accessible rides in an adjacent region. Such a change to the rules could discourage a measure of participation. Perhaps it would be prudent to plot out the regional boundaries and the ride proximities as noted above. You may remember I did similar with the membership some time back. Currently it doesn't matter where you ride, only which region you belong to. Theoretically a rider can earn a regional award w/o doing any rides in the region of residence. What are your feelings on this - pros and cons? Should there be any limitation on the number of out-of-region rides or miles that can be applied to regional awards? (I'll put this on the PNER convention discussion list too) Steph =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- =-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
