[RC] 100 Milers - William RiceAs a total "newbie" I for one am committed to riding a 100 but only when my horse and my rear can both be comfortable trying the task <bg>. I think there are a lot of folks out there that also want to do a 100 but they just don't know it yet. Perhaps more mentoring may be the key and I don't mean hand holding but more of the come on and tag along with me variety? To me the 25 and 50's are going to be a lot of fun but they are also a step in the path to the 100. Just as many ultrarunners progressively move up in distance I think perhaps endurance riders may do the same thing, at least that is my hope. So please keep encouraging others to try the distance, as I for one plan on being there in the near future. As an aside how do you train in the winter--especially on days like today when it is well below zero with the wind chill. My appy thinks perhaps hay munching is training and I cannot seem to convince him otherwise. A 100 wannabe here in Maine.
