Re: [RC] Decline of entries in 100 milers - Susan Young CaseyI would be interested in knowing how many of my fellow RideCampers are self-employed and how many hold down regular day jobs. And if you do hold down day jobs, how do you get away from work to travel to a ride? I teach full time from 7:30 till 4:00 (or later during this time of year) then go to my husband's medical practice and do billing etc. till...who knows! I blame HIM for making me gain all this weight! I don't have the deadlines you do and once Blake's practice takes off, I'll have more time to do what I want. As for now, Charlie already has a base and it doesn't take much to keep him fit. Poor 20 year-old Bingo gets yanked out of the pasture and foxhunted at neck-break speeds over all kinds of junk that'd make the average endurance rider cringe (I just close my eyes). Topper, my up and coming, will need some conditioning which is why I've scheduled his rides the end of the season. I want to know when life took over my conditioning and competition time? That's NOT fair! Tom Sites is probably the last of the die-hards. Ride on Tom...I'm right behind ya! OH...Tom's in the calendar. Neat little story. When I started endurance in the 80's, ALL the men were as cute as Tom or they were OLD and cute. Now...jeeze! I don't even want to talk about it. I'm going riding with Bob and Julie!! ===== Susan Young Casey, Princess of Pink, LIW, RRHA, RHS Semper Obliquo (Always aside) Glenndale Grace Farm, Ft Gibson, Oklahoma U.S.A. "Ride on! Rough-shod if need be, smooth-shod if that will do, but ride on!
