Re: [RC] ride cancelled cause of too cold weather? - Barbara McCraryYes, our 1995 Castle Rock ride was cancelled in mid-afternoon when the temperature reached 105 in the canyon and 115 on the ridges, with high humidity (can't remember, but maybe 80%). One horse had died and the head vet felt it in the best interest to call halt. This was on the coast of California, hottest recorded temps in the history of our area, I believe. Hi there, a couple of friends in our ride group went up to the January thaw 25 miler in Vermont this past weekend. They said the ride got canceled when it couldn't reach 10 degrees at 10:30 A. M. what a bummer. I don't believe that I've ever heard of such a thing happening. I'm sure it was done in the best interest of horses and riders. But it is Vermont and it is January.......... has a ride ever gotten canceled because it was just too hot? That seems to be more of a danger, don't you think? 108 degrees 100% humidity something like that?
