Re: [RC] Horse Welfare - Heidi SmithFor those who lack the time to read the documents, the conclusion is to get the condition score of the horse to 5.0 or slightly above - meaning that, at the least, there should be a thin but real layer of fat over the horse's ribs ("ribs cannot be seen but are easily felt"). Thank you, Tom, for bringing that up. I do think overall condition scores have improved over the last quarter of a century at rides, but sometimes it is easy to take it for granted that people understand this. When those condition scores go down, you really have to watch those horses a lot more carefully.
