That is a range from between 6 rides completed, to 600. Talk about a range in rider experience! The average mileage by rider is: 4210. If I take out the lowest and highest 5 riders the average is then: 2507. Horse mileage is interesting. There are 5 horses with less than the 300 miles required to qualify. This is probably because results are not posted. Rides count that were completed thru September 15, 2003, so this will have to be verified later on those 5. So, throwing out those 5 and the top 5 highest mileage horses you come with up an average lifetime mileage figure of 1032 miles. The horse with the highest mileage entered in the 50 also belongs to the highest mileage rider and that is Tulip with 12,635 miles. The next closest horse is Remington with 6060. How the riders met qualifications for this ride is a lot different than for the 100 mile event. The majority of the riders met qualifications by having 300 or more miles and top fiving their weight division in a ride in the last year. Only 20 or less out or 79 riders and horse teams have 1000 miles together. So roughly 25% versus a rate of 85% for the 100 mile entries.
