The biggest help that I have found with scratches is, no matter what you 
put on it topically, be sure to cover it with Water Babies or some other 
water-proof sun block. The vet told me that sun exacerbates it. He had 
me put on a wrap but the moisture which developed made it worse. I tried 
the spay or foam sun block--- went on easy and lasted-- and it cleared 
up in no time. Since then I've told others and they have likewise had 
success!
