Re:[RC] [Guest] second sweats and motorhomes - RwattsThere are the Irish knit anti-sweat rugs now, which can go under a breathable rug (cooler, etc.) But one of my favorite old timer "tricks" is to thatch the horse (when a horse gets sweaty in cold weather, or the horse who tends to "break out" later, that sort of thing). All you do is shove handfuls of hay or straw between the horse and the cooler or rug. The extra air spaces allow the steam to find its way off the horse, without letting the horse get chilled in any way.
