Re: [RC] Truck Ins followup - Stephanie E CaldwellSteph is correct for TN also. I had the Progressive Ins agent here quote me rates.. WOW or BIG $$ Progressive is one of the leaders in big truck insurance. Their claims service is excellent, usually claims are settled in 24 - 48 hours. Don't know how competitive Erie is out there, but here they have excellent rates for "Mature" drivers. Some of the smaller comm'l companies will suprise you, too. Cost for a YEAR is $1796 for truck and trailer. That sounds absurdly high. I would seriously check around with some smaller companies and check out Erie. For those of y'all who are research adicts like me, you can check your companies financial status at www.ambest.com . They rate companies based on how strong financially they are and on size. It's free to join, and if you're shopping around it's important to know how strong the company you're going with it. They have a letter system, and anything below A is iffy, some smaller companies get B's just on sheer size. But, if you see a B or below it's something you probably want to check with your Department of Insurance in your state and see if they're being investigated or having financial problems. Good Luck!
